Chaotic scenes from the annual sheep roundup (Réttir), an annual event that is one of Iceland's oldest cultural traditions. Sheep farmers (assisted by family, friends and curious artists) round up their herds at the end of the summer grazing period in the mountains and valleys. Supermarket shelves are noticeably fuller in the following months with both fresh and smoked lamb hangikjöt, as well as local delicacies such as black-pudding blóðmör and liver sausage lifrapylsa.
